My daughter loves when I make a pitcher of this Homemade Lemonade or my Strawberry Lemonade.

She will drink it all day, if you don’t monitor her.

So I make sure to double the recipe, just so we all can enjoy a glass of this perfectly mixture of sweet and tangy Lemonade.

A refreshing glass of Lemonade.

Lemonade or Limeade

This easy Lemonade Recipe was a everyday drink back home in Jamaica.

However, we didn’t use lemons, but some limes.

Yep! Just go outside in the backyard, pick some limes off the tree, get some brown sugar, water and some ice cubes and we have a big pitcher of lemonade.

So what I normally do is instead of adding all 1 and a half cups of lemon juice, I would divide it between lemon and lime juice.

1 cup of lemon juice and half cup of lime juice.

But that’s just my preference.

Lemonade Ingredients

For this simple summer drink, you only need 3 ingredients.

Sugar: White Granulated Sugar. You can use less sugar, if you want it to be less sweet.

Lemons: Freshly squeezed lemons are the best. It gives a much better taste.

Water: Use room temperature water or cold water.

The Classic way of making Lemonade

I am not used to turning on my stove to make this refreshing drink.

I am used to the good ole fashion way: just adding all the ingredients, stir and put it in the refrigerator to cool or pour it over some ice cubes in a glass.

Yes some of the sugar will settle at the bottom of the pitcher.

However, after awhile it will dissolved.

Plus, by stirring before serving it, that helps also.

Seriously, who has time to turn on a stove, wait for the sugar to melt and then wait for the syrup to cool down to make a drink?

If that is your way of making it, then that’s okay (I ain’t mad at you).

I have included below on how to make a simple syrup if you choose to.

Making a Simple Syrup

To make a simple syrup for your lemonade, all you have to do is heat some sugar and water in a sauce pan.

It’s that simple.

In a medium sauce pan, add the 2 cups of white granulated sugar and 1 1/2 cups of water.

Bring to a boil, until the sugar is dissolved.

Remove it from the heat and all to cool.

Also, once it is cool, you can choose to place it in the refrigerator to chill until you are ready to finish making your lemonade drink.

Can I use Bottled Lemon Juice to make this Lemonade?

Yes, you can use bottled lemon juice to make this simply refreshing summer drink.

Whenever I am unable to find lemons in the supermarket, I used some bottled lemon juice.

It gets the job done, but nothing like freshly squeezed lemon juice though.

How to store Lemonade?

Store this classic drink in the refrigerator for up to a week (without any ice cubes) in it to keep cool.

Since the ice cubes will melt out over time (if added to it), it will water down the drink, leaving it without any taste at all.

When you are ready to serve it, then add ice cubes into a glass and pour the lemonade over it.

How to make Lemonade from scratch?

Firstly, if you are going to make the simple syrup, do that and allow it to cool (room temperature). You can allow it to chill in the refrigerator in the mean time.

Secondly, juice the lemons and strain them through a fine mesh strainer.

Thirdly, add the sugar or the simple syrup, lemon juice and the water (if you did the simple syrup, then add the remaining water) in a pitcher. Stir. Add lemon slices to the lemonade, if you choose.

Finally, place the pitcher with the lemonade in the refrigerator to chill or if in a hurry, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour over it. Enjoy.
