How to make a simple syrup?

Another method to make lemonade is to make a simple syrup before to add as the sweetener.

In this recipe, I didn’t make a syrup.

I added the sugar directly to the pitcher, even though it takes awhile for the sugar to dissolve in the water.

Plus, the sugar settles and the bottom (if not stir for a period of time) and the lemonade can be grainy at times.

To make the simple syrup:

Add the sugar with 1 1/2 cups of water in a saucepan over medium heat.

Stir and allow the sugar to dissolved.

Remove from heat once dissolved and allow it to cool down – room temperature.

Add it to the pitcher with the other ingredients.
