With some refreshing watermelon, a little tartness from the lemons and the correct amount of sugar, this is the perfect Summer drink.
Lemonade is the go to drink for those hot days, so why not add one of Summer’s favorite fruit…. some Watermelon.
Yes, when I think about Summer, watermelon is the first thing that comes to mind.
It is two refreshing combination that the kids not only love but the adults too.
When you have kids, there has to be some cool drink in the refrigerator all the time for them to cool down during the hot days of Summer.
As soon as they comes from outside, it’s straight to the fridge… like they pay bills here, LOL.
My daughter loves a cool cup of Homemade Lemonade.
So I thought to myself, why not add some Watermelon to it.
The Watermelon not only add some flavor to this refreshing drink, but adds a some beautiful color as well.
This Watermelon Lemonade Drink is simple and easy as it comes.
Watermelon Lemonade as a Cocktail
This Watermelon Lemonade, Summer’s favorite drink is easy to make into an adult cocktail.
To do so, add a shot of your choice of rum to a glass of the drink and enjoy responsibly.
How to make Watermelon Lemonade Recipe
Firstly, cut up the seedless watermelon into chunks.
Secondly, add the chunks of watermelon to a food processor or blender and pulse, until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl.
Thirdly, juice the lemons and strain them through a fine mesh strainer into a container.
Fourthly, add the granulated sugar, lemon juice and water to a large pitcher. Mix until sugar is dissolved.
Finally, add the watermelon puree to the large pitcher and stir together.
Watermelon Lemonade Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups seedless Watermelon, after pureed and strained
- 1 cup Lemon Juice, approximately 5 Lemons
- 3 cups Water
- 2/3 cup Granulated Sugar
Instructions
- Add the chopped watermelon into a blender or food processor and pulse until smooth.
- Strain the watermelon puree through a fine mesh strainer, (if you choose to) over a large container. Set aside for later.
- Juice the lemons and strain through a fine mesh strainer into a container. TIP: roll the lemons on your counter before cutting them to get more juice.
- Add the lemon juice, water and granulated sugar to a large pitcher and mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour the blended watermelon mixture into the pitcher and stir well.
- Allow to chill in the refrigerator, until you are ready to serve.
- If in a hurry, pour in a glass over ice cubes.
- Enjoy.
Notes:
- Strain the pureed watermelon through a fine mesh strainer, if you choose to. Some like to have the small pieces of watermelon in the dink. No worries, that’s your choice.
- Roll each lemon on the counter top, just before cutting them into two. This helps the lemon to be easier to squeeze and to produce more juice.
